✨How to be Confident & Likeable✨

Takeaways from the Him & Her Podcast by Lauryn Bosstick and Michael Bosstick featuring Vanessa Edwards

I learnt so many things I had to write them down and will try to implement them✨✨

HOW TO BE CONFIDENT & LIKEABLE

11 mins- Don’t talk like you are asking a question, as you don’t seem confident. People reject good ideas when presented poorly. For example, the pitch by Ring Doorbells on Shark Tank got no deal, then went on to be sold to Amazon for nearly $1 billion.

21 mins - Meet new people by joining a queue. Confidence comes from having a purpose. If you are at a conference, don’t just stand in the room (no purpose), instead, queue for coffee and meet people that way.

36 mins - Don’t ask people 'what do you do for work’ as it could be you judging their worth. Instead, ask, ‘working on anything exciting recently?’. They’ll either tell you about their job OR talk about their hobbies/interests as their job doesn't define them.

43 mins- Phrases to say to get people to like you;

* ‘I was just thinking about you’, gives reassurance to someone you like them. It’s also a good conversation starter to talk about something you saw that reminded you of them.

* If someone gets interrupted by a waiter, say ‘please finish your thoughts about …’

* Don’t give obvious compliments like complimenting the tall guy about his height.

56 mins- If you are close to your friends, you can answer the following;

- What keeps them up at night?

- What gets them up in the morning? What motivates them?

1.07 mins- Why is John F Kennedy charismatic and likeable? We like people who don’t make extra movements, who don’t fidget. We like calm energy as opposed to someone who is nervous. Your confidence score goes down when you touch your face or hair.
